Your RV makes travel and camping more comfortable and luxurious than ever, but it can be tempting to be a couch potato when the great outdoors is just outside. We here at True Value Trailers want you to stay healthy while you’re relaxing, so we’ve put together some tips for just that! If you have any questions, or you want to see our inventory of RVs for sale, contact our stores in Penrose and Florence, Colorado, today.

Exercising

A vital part of good health is staying active, which can feel impossible when you’re either traveling or trying to unwind. Gyms are in short supply at the campsite, after all, so you might have to make some room in your RV to work out. Hand weights and exercise videos online can help, but if you’re exploring nature, make the most of it! Go hiking, kayaking, swimming, or just for a walk around the area. So long as you get 30 minutes of activity a day, five days a week, you’ll be alright.

Diet

That’s a scary word, but in this case it just means paying attention to what you eat. Dining out, gas station snacks, and fast food are some of the easiest meals when you’re on the road, but they’re not exactly great for you. If your RV has a kitchen, try to make the most of it with fresh produce from farmer’s markets, or just make some nice cold sandwiches and salads. Water and tea will keep you more hydrated than soda or caffeinated beverages, and they have less sugar to boot.

Rest

If your campsite or rest stop is loud, it can be hard to get the sleep you need. Black-out curtains, white-noise machines, earplugs, portable fans, and sleep masks can all help you shut out outside distractions. Remember that most mobile devices emit blue light, which can prevent you from creating the melatonin you need to sleep, so limit screen time before bed. Make sure you get plenty of rest after and before big workouts like hikes.

Clean Space

You aren’t the only factor you can control here—to a degree, you can also control your environment. A messy, grimy RV isn’t going to do your health any favors and can actually lead to you getting sick. At least once a week, you should:

  • Wipe down all surfaces
  • Vacuum, mop, and sweep
  • Clean linens, towels, and curtains
  • Throw out old food
  • Clean mold and mildew early
  • Take out trash and other waste

We hope these tips help you keep your health while you’re in your home on the road! If you want to know more, or you want to browse our inventory, contact us at True Value Trailers. We proudly serve the people of Pueblo and Colorado Springs, Colorado—let us serve you today!
