How to Properly Clean Your Tractor
Have you ever heard the saying, “A clean machine is a happy machine?” Cleaning any type of equipment is an important ownership responsibility and tractors are no exception. Regularly cleaning your tractor can help increase its life expectancy and ensure great performance. Follow these simple steps and your tractor will remain in tip-top shape for years to come!
Start With the Basics
Before you dive in with a pressure washer or bucket of soapy water, you’ll want to remove any debris from the exterior of your tractor. This means cleaning off any dirt, grass clippings, mud, or other debris that may have accumulated. Once all the debris has been removed, you’ll be able to get a better view of what needs cleaning and what areas need extra attention.
Cleaning Tips
Next, it’s time to move on to washing your tractor. We recommended using a special detergent specifically designed for tractors. This will ensure that no damage is done to your paint job or other parts while also providing an effective cleaning solution. You can either wash by hand using a sponge or brush or use a power washer for those hard-to-reach areas and crevices. Be careful when using the power washer – too much pressure can damage parts such as gaskets and seals.
Dry Your Tractor
After washing your tractor, the next step is dry it thoroughly. Use a soft towel or chamois to dry it, paying extra attention to any nooks and crannies where water can collect. You can also use a blower to dry the tractor faster.
Touchups
Once you have thoroughly washed and dried off your tractor from top to bottom, it’s time for some touchups! For example, if there are any scratches on the tractor, now would be a great time to perform minor repairs, such as applying paint or waxing and polishing if necessary. Doing so will help keep the rust away and ensure that your tractor looks good.
